The week of January 13th through 17th is Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida. And since the Women of Mystery are writers and avid readers, it stands to reason that we love to promote literacy. As it happens, one of my grandkids and his class worked in the media center to make a PSA encouraging kids to read. You can see the PSA on YouTube right here:
A lot of schools submitted PSAs to the state and The Florida Department of Education picked the top three PSAs in each category: elementary school, middle school and high school. The teams for all nine videos have been invited to the Kennedy Space Center next week to receive awards for their hard work and support of reading. At that time they will announce which teams came in first, second and third in their respective categories.
For reasons that are not clear to me, part of the final process includes seeing how many “likes” each of the PSAs can get on Facebook before 11:59 pm on Monday, January 13, 2014. So, please, if you have a Facebook account, click through and “like” Reading Boy and Acceleration Girl, and a big thank you to all the kids and teachers who made it happen.
