Andrew-Greeley

Father Andrew M. Greeley (1928-2013) sociologist, author, and most especially, Roman Catholic priest passed away this week after a long illness resulting from an accident in 2008. I have always been a huge fan of both Greeley’s fiction and his religious and sociological non-fiction. In fact, a few months ago I wrote an open appreciation letter to Father Greeley over at Criminal Element

You can read articles about Father Greeley’s life in the Chicago SunTimes, the New York Times and in dozens of other news outlets.

You can link through Greeley’s webpage to his blog and leave a comment if you wish. I had trouble posting there, so I’ll make my comment here. Psalm 118:24: This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad.

I am sure that Father Greeley is already holding court in heaven, surrounded by saints both ancient and brand spanking new and angels of every degree. And he’ll lead the discussion on how to move humankind into a more openly loving relationship with the Creator. It will go on for infinity, with perhaps a taste of Bushmill’s if throats go dry.

As for me I shall pray for the repose of the soul of the dearly departed. And I’m sure he wouldn’t mind a prayer or kind thought from you.

Terrie
